Embedding is the process of integrating media files into a web page. With Kinescope, you can easily embed media files on your site using special embed codes. This tutorial will explain how embedding works and what steps to take if you wish to embed a Kinescope player on your page.

What do I need to do before embedding?

Before embedding the player, upload the media file into your Kinescope Catalog (Upload Media) and prepare it for publication. In particular, make sure that your media file's privacy settings are set to be viewed and that the embedding policy is set to Anywhere.

For example, if you want the media file to be posted to any site and accessed by all users, use the following privacy settings:

These settings allow you to embed the media file on any site and view it for all users

These settings allow you to embed the media file on any site and view it for all users

If you want the media player to be embedded only on your website, then add your domain(s) to the list of specific domains:

These settings allow you to embed the media file only on approved sites

If you want viewers to access the file with a password, then change the Privacy setting Who can watch to Users with password:

These settings allow you to embed the player on any site, but only users with a password will be able to play the media file

To extend the privacy setting even more, you can allow only users with a password on the authorized domain names to play the media file:

These settings allow you to embed the player only on allowed sites and only users with a password will be able to play the media file.

Embedding code

The embed code is a snippet of code used to add a media player to a web page.

There are two types of embed codes: responsive and fixed. Responsive code automatically adjusts player size to user screen size and mobile screen size, while fixed code keeps player size set on all devices.

You can find the embed code in the settings by clicking on the Embed button.

The code can also be copied into the Catalog by clicking the three dots on right side of a file and then on Copy link>Copy embed code (in this case the fixed embed code will be copied).
